HALM, 2012
Video (Mini-DV), projection on silk

The video work HALM shows a woman standing with her back to the viewer in a dried-up cornfield. The yellow-tinted image reinforces the impression of heat and dryness, while slowed-down movements and a barely audible wind intensify the atmosphere.
The figure repeats a gesture of raising her arms, creating a tension between the intimacy of the moment with nature and the power of continuous movement. The woman and the dried stalks merge visually and rhythmically into a single entity.
The work is projected onto silk hanging in the room. The translucent, moving fabric transforms the projection into an ephemeral, constantly changing image, giving the work an installative, processual quality.
